Regular Qur’an and Islamic studies classes

Over the past two years, Al-Ikhlas Trust conducted regular Qur'an and Islamic studies classes for girls every Sunday from 11:30am to 13:30pm at the Highland Park Community House (47 Aviemore Drive), catering for both beginner and intermediate level students. Classes are run by volunteer sisters who used to do the same in the community since the beginning of 2004.

During the Ramadhan break (August 2010) the trust managed to move in the rented property at 19/325 TiRakau Drive and the beginners classes resumed there right after Ramadhan. Intermediate level classes resumed in a later time.

Al-Ikhlas Trust is keeping this function at its minimum at the moment till the trust can acquire a fixed facility where classes can be planned and run by qualified personnel following a well structured curriculum. Currently we are not in a position that allows us to administer such educational function. Nevertheless, we managed to introduce the Islamic studies component to the Sunday classes Since November 2010.

Now for our 2011 education programme, the trust has made the following changes to the programmes on offer, which are explained below.

When classes resume after the summer school holiday (February 2011), Sundays will remain as Qur'an/tajweed classes, with both the senior and junior groups. We encourage all parents to utilise this learning opportunity for their children, and to support and endorse the work the students do in these classes.

There will no longer be Islamic Studies during the Sunday lessons. Al-Ikhlas is launching a new Islamic Studies programme (download the fuly explained course content). We have designed this course to be an interesting and engaging experience for the students, and hopefully something from which they will gain lifelong learning and a greater appreciation of their deen.

There will be two classes available for intermediate/secondary aged pupils

students in School Year 7-9 on Mondays at 6pm each week,
students in School Year 10-13 on Thursdays at 6pm each week.

For any enquiries regarding the current Sunday classes and the availability of places for additional students, please contact the Trust Secretary using the form on the Contact
