From Uskukar take bus #2 to last stop. Walk to train station, in front of the entryway to the train station is a Cafe. There you will find plentiful good muslim brothers, great conversation about the deen in english/turkish/german, other languages available.
The Mosque is located a very short walk away.
From anadolu (asian side of istanbul) take transportation to Train Station (Tren stasion) and use same directions. Very easy. 2 cafe's are there, I'm not speaking about the one with the waterfall.
