Since 1991, the school has expanded to grade 8 and now offers Islamic and secular academic courses. The present enrolment is more than 360 full-time students and the administrative staff consists of a Board of Trustees, the General Manager (the Imam), a Local Manager, a Principal and Vice-Principal with 18 teachers. The educational system of Belize is unique in that it is a partnership between government and religious communities whereby government funds teachers’ salaries & approves the academic curriculum and the various religious communities are responsible for management, physical infrastructure, staffing and religious curriculum.
A Muslim Community Technical High School (MCTHS) for Commerce, Science & Technology is currently under development to enhance Technical Vocational Educational Training (TVET) and Islamic Values. The Strategic Objectives are: (1) Establish the capacity to provide quality TVET skills for national & global management needs and (2) Establish the capacity to provide quality Islamic Secondary Education within Belize.
Through its Rural Development Project (RDP) committee, the IMB is sponsoring development of the Jannahville community in central Belize. The project aims to build an Islamic community complete with organic farming, halal meat, eco-tourism and a rural campus of the proposed MCTHS as well as eventually an Islamic University on some 350 acres of land leased from the Government of Belize since 1987.
The IMB is also exploring the establishment of a Muslim Community Development Credit Union (MCDCU) under the laws of Belize that would be Sharia-compliant (Interest-free) and offer personal and business financing. | | أوقات الصلاة | حدث الصفحة | |  |
