The 12th of Rabbi ul Awwal is a significant day in Islamic history. It is associated with the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his passing from this world. This day is an opportunity to renew our connection with his message and teachings. Here are five meaningful actions to observe on this blessed day:

1. Send Blessings Upon the Prophet ﷺ

Increase recitation of Salawat (Durud Sharif) throughout the day. It is a means of drawing closer to Allah and honoring His Messenger (PBUH).

2. Study the Seerah

Read or listen to a portion of the Prophet’s biography and go through his teachings. It is important to reflect on his character, values and guidance to apply them in daily life.

3. Give Charity

Any act of charity is a perfect example of remembering the Prophet’s teachings and expressing love for him. These acts of charity can include, sharing food with neighbours or travellers, supporting the needy, or contributing to a cause that benefits others.

4. Pray Extra Nawafil and Make Dua

Increase in Nafl (voluntary) prayers and supplications, asking Allah to grant you closeness to the Prophet (PBUH) in the Hereafter. This day is an opportunity to strengthen your bond with Allah through extra worship, remembering that following the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) is the true expression of love.

5. Share His Teachings

Pass on a hadith, a lesson from his Seerah, or a reflection on his character with family, friends, or the community in general. Teach your kids about his way of life and how it should be set as an example for all Muslims.
