Islamic history is rich with remarkable women who faced challenges with courage for Allah (SWT). Hazrat Khadija (R.A) was the first woman to accept Islam and she stood by our beloved Holy Prophet (SWT) every step of the way.


Here are a few facts about Hazrat Khadija (R.A):

1. She was a successful and well-known business-woman

Hazrat Khadija was born to a a successful merchant in their Quraysh tribe of Mecca. After his death, she inherited her father’s trading business in a male-dominated society. She took the responsibility of trading goods from Mecca to Syria and to Yemen. Her business soon became on of the largest in the Quraysh due to her reputation of being a fair dealer who provides high-quality goods.


2. She was an ideal partner

When Prophet Muhammad (SAW) reported his first revelation, Hazrat Khadija believed and supported her husband and converted immediately to strengthen his prophetic mission. She helped our Holy Prophet (SAW) spread the message of Islam and even invested more of her wealth in the cause.


3. She converted to Islam to support Holy Prophet's mission

Hazrat Khadija became the first woman to convert to Islam and remained steadfast in the face of trials and turbulations for the love of Allah (SWT).


4. She spent her money on freeing Muslim slaves

Hazrat Khadija (R.A) invested the wealth she had accumulated from her trading business into her husband’s mission i.e. to spread the word of Allah (SWT). She used to pay ransom for Muslim slaves and feed the Muslim community wherever and whenever she got the chance to.
