The Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, shares Ramadan Iftar with Muslims

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who is often seen as the champion of minority rights and diversity, has now gone one step further in not only wishing Muslims all over the world Ramadan Mubarak, but also highlighting the true meaning of the holy month.

Sharing the spirit of Ramadan with Muslims, Canadian Prime Minister attended an Iftar hosted by the Muslim community in Milton, Ontario. Trudeau wrote on Facebook:

“Ramadan is about the values we all hold dear as Canadians – compassion, peace, and serving others. Last night, I joined members of the Muslim community in Milton to break fast – thank you for welcoming me to this special Iftar meal.”

His office shared images of the special Ramadan reach out, where Trudeau could be seen interacting with the minority community members and sharing iftar with them.

Trudeau, who faces elections this year, is known for his special personal reach out to members of the migrant community and minority faiths. Earlier this month, he shared a video message to welcome the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. In his message, he said:

“Ramadan honors the values at the heart of Islam – like compassion and service to others.”

The Muslims’ safety concerns were also highlighted in the Prime Minister’s Ramadan message. He further added:

“We will always stand together against Islamophobia and hatred in all its forms, and work to make sure the values of openness, diversity, and freedom of religion are protected.”

Trudeau has been winning hearts since he came to power, with reasons like this. Muslims dedicate their time during the holy month to be closer to Allah (SWT) through prayers, self-restraint, and good deeds. We pray that may Allah (SWT) make this Ramadan easy for all the Muslims across the world and sow in the seeds of peace and patience (Sabr) amongst us all.
