I am very disturbed with the irresponsible decision of this Masjid’s Board of Trustees / acting Executive Committee to terminate Imam Khizer without consulting with the community or even informing the community through its social media or in any official communications to the public! Doesn’t that sound like criminal behavior? My children and wife are very sad and disappointed that our beloved Imam has been treated so unfairly by a handful of out-of-touch men who should not be running the masjid. I will not support people who are running the masjid in a way incongruent with the needs of the community it serves. Doesn’t that just sound like the American government itself? For now, I personally will find alternative Masjids to donate my money and attend Salah including Jummah until this masjid fixes the wrong they did. I hope they can see the mistake they have made and step down to allow new leadership to take control and fix this problem they have caused. If they do not want to admit their mistake and bring back Imam Khizer, I believe it is vital that we support Imam Khizer by forming a new Islamic organization and masjid that reflects the needs of the community he has been leading for the last 3-4 years. My humble suggestion would be to set up in Milford since there are no Masjid or Islamic Centers there. Imam Khizer should have a seat at the table of the leadership team, otherwise another, I believe a smarter more attractive community will definitely take him away from us! We need a leader who is visionary, communicates well with people at all levels (especially the generation of Muslims raised in America) and is willing to work for the community. If the NHIC BOT does not reverse its unwise decision, I strongly encourage the community to unite to form a new masjid and lead by example by doing a better job than NHIC. In’sha’Allah, I hope the community can all work together to do the right thing and stop playing games with the house of Allah Almighty.
