The Muslim Center of Long Island, aka Masjid Darul Qur'an is a full time Masjid with Sunday Islamic School, and lot of other activities involving Muslim families on daily basis. We also have :MDQ Academy" a full time Islamic Elementary School from UPK, Kindergarten to Six grade; we plan to add one grade each year, Insh'Allah. We are in the process of building a new school building, which will house upto 8th grade. Alhamdulillah, Masjid building is now complete. Work is in progress on MDQ Academy. Please come and visit our new mosque and existing MDQ Academy with your own eyes and see a beautiful house of God coming into existence,and a vibrant Islamic Center in the heart of Long Island. Shurooq is the time of sunrise, the time when the upper limb of the sun just starts to appear above the horizon. This marks the end time for Fajr (morning) prayer.

The difference between Standard and Hanafi (Juristic Methods)
The only difference is in the Asr prayer. In the standard method (which is used by Imamas Shafii, Hanbali, and Maliki) the Asr prayer time starts when the shadow of an object is equivalent to its height, whereas in the Hanafi method the Asr prayer time starts when the shadow of an object is twice its height.
