Learn why no prayer is too small for Allah. Discover how the Hadith of the broken sandal teaches us to build daily faith through everyday Duas.
Written by Khadija Adnan
When financial panic strikes, when a loved one falls ill, or when a major loss occurs, we drop straight to our prayer mats. We beg Allah to make it better, pouring our hearts out in desperate Dua.
But what about the small, everyday things? A sudden headache, losing your wallet in a crowd, or running out of an ingredient while cooking?
We often forget Allah in those tiny moments because we think they are too insignificant. Yet, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us to turn to Allah even in the most everyday situations:
“Let one of you ask his Lord for his every need, until he asks Him for salt, and asks Him for the strap of his sandal when it breaks.” Jamiʿ at-Tirmidhi (3604)
This Hadith carries three powerful lessons for our daily spiritual life:
That need in your heart is never too small for Him. Start praying for the random, tiny details throughout your day:
If people call this level of prayer "delusional," let them. Be unapologetic in remembering Allah in every big and small detail. Keep the signal between you and your Creator strong at all times, and never let it go dim.
Talk to him silently in your heart now and then.
Allah is not an emergency kit to be opened only when life breaks down, He is your daily remembrance.
A heart grounded in faith talks with Allah every single day about every single matter. When you learn to rely on Him for the small things, the big trials of life will no longer make you worry, because you already know who holds your heart and handles every situation.
