4 key tips to improve your Quran recitation

Do you want to recite the Quran with fluency and confidence? The key is mastering all Tajweed rules.

Here are 4 important you need to know to elevate your recitation:

1. Know the Emission Points

Learn to articulate each letter accurately. Correct pronunciation preserves the true meaning and adds beauty to every word you recite. For example, the letter "Taa" is pronounced when the tip of the tongue touches the gum line of the upper front teeth. This produces a sound similar to when the letter "T" is pronounced in English.

2. Master the Letter Characteristics

Understand the unique characteristics of each letter—such as softness or emphasis. This awareness enhances the depth and elegance of your recitation. For example, Qalqalah letters ق (Qaaf), ط (Taa), ب (Baa), ج (Jeem), and د (Daal) with a Sukoon, should be pronounced with an echoing or "bouncing" sound.

3. Refine the nasal sounds

The rules with the nasal sounds (Ghunnah) in Noon Saakin and Tanween are fundamental in Tajweed. Proper application of these rules will enhance the flow of your recitation significantly.

4. Learn sound prolongation

Grasp how and when to extend sounds. Proper application will add rhythm and depth to your recitation. For example, whenever there is a Madd sign on a letter, it's pronunciation should be prolonged for a few seconds.
