Cardamom Sherbet

A good, chilled drink is what we all crave during fasting hours. This chilled, sweet Cardamom drink is the best reward you can give to yourself at Iftar time!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup green cardamom
  • 1 litre water
  • 1 kg sugar
  • 1/4 cup rose water 
  • ½ tsp green food color 
  • 1 pinch Citric acid (optional) 
  •  2-3 tbsp Cardamom sharbet 


DIRECTIONS

  1. Add water and green cardamom in a bowl and keep it for 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Pour the soaked green cardamom into the chopper. Mix and set aside.
  3. Pour water in a pan and add green cardamom to boil for 12-15 minutes.
  4. Strain the cardamom mixture into a bowl.
  5. Pour strained cardamom water and sugar into a pan and mix.
  6. Add rosewater and cook at a light flame for 12-15 minutes. 
  7. Add Green food color and citric acid and cook for 25-30 minutes more. Keep stirring the mixture to release all the flavours.
  8. Chill the mixture, and add in milk or water and serve.
