Learn the etiquettes and Sunnah of making Dua.
Written by IslamicFinder
Salam O Alaikum!
We often find ourselves struggling when making a heartfelt Dua. Whether you’re conversing with Allah (SWT) in general or asking for the fulfillment of your heart’s desire, here are the etiquettes and Sunnah you can follow to make your Dua more effective:
1- Perform Wudu - (Bukhari: 6383)
Performing Wudu gets you into the right state and mindset for conversing with Allah (SWT).
2- Face the Qiblah - (Bukhari: 1023)
Facing the Qiblah is not mandatory when making Dua. However, since our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would do so sometimes, it’s Sunnah.
3- Raise Your Hands - (Abu Dawood: 1488)
SubhanAllah, our Prophet (PBUH) said,
“Verily, your Lord is Generous and Shy. If His servant raises his hands to Him (in supplication), He becomes shy to return them empty.”
4- Call Upon Him - (Bukhari: 6384)
Allah (SWT) is always close to us. So, call upon Him in a low voice, humbly and with fear.
5- Praise Allah (SWT) and His Prophet (P.B.U.H.) - (Tirmidhi: 3477)
Begin with praising Allah and send prayers upon the Prophet (PBUH).
6- Convey Your Hopes
Converse or convey your wishes in a humble manner.
7- Say “Ameen” - (Abu Dawud: 938)
Conclude your Dua with “Ameen”.
May Allah (SWT) answer all our prayers and give us the best of everything in this life and the Hereafter. Ameen.
