New Zealand to Broadcast Azan nationally and hold Hijab Events in Solidarity with Muslims.

 . Current Affairs

It’s been the talk since Friday, though it’s been due to a terrible incident; it has brought a sense of togetherness regardless of faith and background. The nation's Adhan (Muslim Call to Prayer) will take place at 1.30 pm on Friday, 22nd March 2019; followed by a two-minute silence at 1.32 pm. Athan will broadcasted on both, TV and Radio. The PM said:

"To acknowledge this there will be a two minutes' silence on the same day. We will also broadcast nationally, via TVNZ and RNZ, the Azaan (the call to prayer)."

On Friday last week, the two reflection events will be broadcast at Hagley Park and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern encourages as many people as possible to take part. This has been planned in the wake of honouring the victims of the mosque massacre, in the terrorist attack in New Zealand at two mosques. Ardern said:

"How we choose to reflect during the silence will be different for each of us."

She further added:

"I know many New Zealanders wish to mark the week that has passed since the terrorist attack, and to support the Muslim community as they return to mosques, particularly on Friday"

A National Memorial Service will be held in Christchurch on Friday but the Government is looking at ways the rest of the country can get involved with the service. The Prime Minister said:

"As a nation, as one, we will pay our respects to those who died in Christchurch."

Several groups have also invited New Zealanders (Kiwis) to wear headscarves to show support to the grieving Muslim community on Friday, one week on from the devastating attack on two Christchurch mosques. Headscarf for Harmony is another event planned for Friday, inviting Kiwis to wear a Hijab (headscarf) or head covering at "work, school or play".

Muslim Association president Ikhlaq Kashari, said they want to encourage an atmosphere of inclusivity and openness, and an opportunity to heal as a community. Also, a few days back the New Zealand Parliament session started with Holy Quran recitation (see also: Al Quran Online). May Allah (SWT) give the strength to the respective families to deal with the loss and may all keep uniting and honoring each other in solidarity with Muslims as well as other people of religion, in tragic times like these. May Patience be granted to all. Ameen. Spread this message so that our fellow Muslims don't miss out this live broadcast!
