There are several verses, words, and phrases in the beautiful book of Allah (SWT) that have been used extensively, all of which hold significant importance in terms of the message the Quran wishes to convey and in terms of the Holy Book’s importance in the lives of Muslims. It is important to understand that the repetitive use of such words is not coincidental; the book of Allah (SWT) is perfect in all shapes and forms, and so in the repetitive use of certain words and phrases, there lies a lesson or a teaching for Muslims. Here are some commonly used words and phrases in the Holy Quran and their translations:
الرَّحْمَنُ
Ar-Rahman: The Most Gracious
الرَّحِيمُ
Ar-Raheem: The Most Merciful
ٱلْحَمْدُ
Al-Hamdu: The all praises / All thanks
خَلَقَ
Khalq: Creation / Creature / People
ٱتَّبَعَ
Ittibah: To follow / to obey
ذَكَرَ
Zikr: To remember Allah / Remembrance / Recall
سَمِعَ
Samee: All-hearing / Listen
رَزَقَ
Rizq: Provision / Livelihood (Allah’s favor or gift)
صَبَرَ
Sabr: to have Patience
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
Ya Ayuhal Lazeena Amanu: O you who believe
بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ
Qalb-e-Saleem: A pure / sound / tranquil heart
أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ
Wa Ati’i Allah Wa Ati’i Ur Rusool: Obey Allah and Obey His Messenger (PBUH)
لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
Lilmuttaqeen: Pious / Righteous / Allah-fearing
لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ
Lilmalaikati: The Angels
صِرَاطٍ
Siraat: The way / path
