One of the most influential Muslim scholars of the Islamic world today is Ismail ibn Musa Menk, who is more commonly known as Mufti Menk. He is a leading Islamic scholar who serves in the name of Allah (SWT) and is an active preacher of Islamic teachings and practices ‘dawah’ – inviting people to the religion of Islam.

Mufti Menk was born and raised in Zimbabwe. He was tutored by his father, Sheikh Maulana Musa Menk, who himself was a scholar of Islam. He is known to have become a hafiz (one who memorizes all of the Quran) at a really young age and perfected his recitation of the Holy Quran. He also learnt Arabic and Urdu under the Islamic tutorship of his father. He currently holds an esteemed degree in Shariah from the University of Madinah and a specialization in Jurisprudence from Darul Uloom Kantharia in Gujarat. Moreover, Mufti Menk also holds a Doctorate of Social Guidance from Aldersgate University. To add to his credentials, he is also the Head of the Fatwa Department of The Council of Islamic Scholars of Zimbabwe.

Mufti Menk has made his mark, especially amongst the younger generations, through his motivational lectures, focusing on everyday life, struggle, love, loss and everything in between through an Islamic lens. He has won the hearts of many believers across the globe because he uses a modern approach when it comes to the dissemination of Islamic knowledge, which deeply resonates with the modern generations.

Mufti Menk was also titled as one of “The Top 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World” in 2010. His social media presence is incredibly vast. All of his social media platforms have millions of followers from across the globe. These statistics pay ode to his amiable, down to earth and modern outlook on matters of Islam and Muslim lifestyles in today’s world.

His motto, so to say, is one single and profound message: “Do good & help others while preparing for the Hereafter”. His love for humanity is evident in his tireless efforts and initiatives catering underprivileged orphans and the needy.

He is a servant of Allah (SWT) and all his work is aimed towards one thing and one thing only: furthering the message of Allah (SWT) and helping people discover the beauty of His religion. The underlying theme behind the work of Mufti Menk’s is the instilment of love and attachment with the Almighty and really understanding His religion in order to become better Muslims.
