Performing 5 Daily Salah is an obligation for every Muslim and is one of the 5 pillars of Islam. Salah is considered an essential part of a Muslim's life as it helps them stay connected to Allah and remain mindful of their faith.
Abdullah (R.A.) asked the Prophet (S.A.W.) "Which deed is the dearest to Allah?"
He (S.A.W.) replied, "To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times.” ……
(Sahih Bukhari: 527)
Many Muslims these days struggle with making the habit of performing Salah regular and consistent. Following are some tips on how to improve the habit of performing Salah in order to stay on track with this important obligation.
Keep in Mind Why We Pray
The goal of salah is to connect with Allah, to deepen our relationship with Him, to express gratitude for all of His gifts and blessings, and to remind ourselves of His Greatness.
Physical and Spiritual Benefits
Performing Salah regularly not only improves one's spiritual state but also brings other physical, mental, and emotional benefits. Salah calms the soul, generates a feeling of humility, and brings one closer to Allah. Salah’s health benefits include improvement in blood circulation, improves digestion, relieves one from back and joint pain, and improves cardiovascular health.
Make a Firm Commitment to Yourself
Make time for Prayer a must-attend event. You allocate brief slots on your calendar for each Prayer at the start of each year. The procedure takes a little over an hour to set up, but the daily calendar blocks and reminders make sure that nobody schedules their meetings with you on the dedicated time to Prayer in your calendar.
Make Life Easier by Designating Prayer Spaces
Create a dedicated space for offering Salah. At home, there’s a corner where a rug is always out. At work, you designate a space that is hardly used by coworkers as a location for offering Salah. Always have a travel rug so you can offer Salah while you're out.
Set Strict Guidelines for Yourself and Abide by Them
To be regular in offering Salah, make some small rules for yourself and follow them no matter what the situation is. For example:
Take Tiny Steps and Try not to be Too Hard on Yourself
Perhaps you can't begin on Day 1 with all 5 Prayers. Start with 2 and maybe go from there. Or perhaps you are unable to offer all five Prayers at once. Consider beginning with three slots every day. For Example, One slot for Fajr, one slot for Dhuhr and Asr, one for Maghrib and Isha and then go from here to make 5 slots for each Salah.
Keep in Mind that It's Never Too Late to Start!
Sometimes we think that it is too late to start or we will never be able to get regular in Salah. Remember that Allah is aware of who you are and what are your struggles. He only asks you to make an honest effort. Your prayer journey can begin with the next Salah you offer or with the next one or with the next one. It's never too late and you can start this spiritual journey today.
May Allah grant us the chance to become faithful worshipers as we Pray to Him 5 times a day.
Ameen
