Five reasons to offer Taraweeh with consistency this Ramadan

Taraweeh is one of the remarkable things associated with the month of Ramadan. Apart from fasting and refraining from sins, Taraweeh is yet another avenue that brings the blessings of Allah (SWT) during Ramadan.

However, it can often get overwhelming to maintain the pace and consistency throughout the whole month. Fortunately, Allah (SWT) makes it easy to achieve the Ramadan goals we set for ourselves when there are pure intentions and dedication on our part.

Why is being consistent in Taraweeh throughout Ramadan so important? Find out below:

1. Get rewards for the entire night

Taraweeh is your chance to earn rewards and blessings from Allah (SWT) for the rest of the night after you perform Taraweeh prayers. We Muslims do commit sins and are in dire need of as many rewards as we can get. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

“Whoever prays qiyam with the imam until he finishes, Allah will record for him the qiyam of a (whole) night.” (An-Nasa’i and authenticated by Al-Albani)

2. All sins are forgiven

Imagine standing every night in front of Allah (SWT) for hours, getting your sins forgiven - even the ones that you feared deep down would never be pardoned. On this account, the Prophet (PBUH) said:

“Whoever prays during the nights in Ramadan out of sincere faith and seeking its reward from Allah, will have all of his previous sins forgiven.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

3. A good exercise

It is natural for us to get lazy and slow down our physical as well as spiritual obligations. Being consistent in Taraweeh would keep one on toes and stay active. It helps us gain physical benefits, since standing for Taraweeh and then prostrating in front of Allah is like an exercise routine. This routine is even more beneficial after iftar when you are feeling full and bloated.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) considered these prayers to have comfort and a form of relaxation, an escape from the daily grind. He used to tell Bilal, the Mua’zzin:

“Call for the prayer, so we can pray and feel at ease.”

4. Make up for obligatory prayers

Taraweeh prayers give you the chance to make up for any shortcomings you might have in obligatory prayers. If you remain consistent, you can make the most out of this. A great opportunity to avail, isn’t it?

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said that when a man stands before Allah on the Day of Resurrection, and his obligatory prayers were lacking in some way, Allah will say :

“See if my servant has any voluntary prayers that can complete what is lacking in his obligatory prayers.” (Tirmidhi Sahih)

5. Opportunity to listen to the Holy Quran

The Holy Quran is recited in order during Taraweeh prayers throughout Ramadan. It usually gets completed between the 25th-27th of Ramadan, providing us the opportunity to listen and even memorize parts of the Holy Book.

You can offer the Taraweeh prayers behind the imam or even at the comfort of your home by yourself.

We must realize that offering prayers, be it Taraweeh or obligatory, is not only essential during Ramadan but throughout our entire lives. May Allah (SWT) grant us the ability to be consistent in our prayers and gives us the strength to perform them the best way.
