Israeli Forces Kill a Teenage Palestinian Medic and damage 500 Palestinian Homes!

Israeli gunfire killed one Palestinian and left two others injured in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, 27 March 2019; according to a local Palestinian NGO. Sajid Abdel Hakim Helmi Mizhir, 18, was volunteer Medic who got killed by the Israeli forces. the PRC said in a statement:

“A voluntary Palestinian medic in the Palestinian Red Crescent (PRC), was martyred by Israeli forces…Muzher was transferred to the hospital after an Israeli sniper bullet struck his chest…He was later announced dead.” 

Israeli forces opened fire at him; despite wearing his clearly marked medic vest, he could not survive. Ahmed Gharib, 23, another first responder, said he was working alongside Muzher when he was hit. He said:

“There were clashes, people were throwing stones, and four had been wounded. He ran to help someone and got shot.”

He further added:

“I was right behind him. He thought he had been hit in the leg. But there was no blood because it was the abdomen.”

Clashes broke out when Israeli forces raided the Dheisheh refugee camp in the Bethlehem province. Israeli forces used live ammunition, rubber bullets and teargas canisters to disperse the local Palestinian youths. During the invasion, the soldiers stormed and ransacked several homes, and abducted a few.

On the other hand, a total of 500 civilian houses in the Gaza Strip were damaged by the latest Israeli airstrikes, Palestine’s public works on late Tuesday. Many civilians have been injured. Mufeed al-Hasayneh said in a statement:

“In Israeli airstrikes against Gaza, 30 civilian houses were completely destroyed and 500 houses were damaged.” 

The Israeli Air Forces carried out several airstrikes for the second consecutive night, targeting many areas in the besieged and improvised Gaza Strip, after hours of relative calm in and around the coastal region. Israel launched a wave of airstrikes across the Gaza Strip following rocket fire from the enclave which injured seven Israelis north of Tel Aviv. The army reportedly deployed missile-defense batteries in several locations across the country while sending two additional infantry brigades to the Gaza-Israel buffer zone.
