‘Exalted is He who took His Servant (Muhammad) by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him (Muhammad) of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.’

(Surah Al-Isra 17:1)

Isra and Miraj (Shab-e-Miraj) is an important event in Islamic history and is considered one of the miracles of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.). The event is described in the Quran and is commemorated by Muslims every year on the 27th day of the month of Rajab.

Here are some of the reasons why Isra and Miraj is considered important in Islam:

Prophet’s (S.A.W.) Ascension to Heaven

The event is significant because it marked the Prophet Muhammad's (S.A.W.) ascension to heaven, where he was able to have direct communication with Allah and receive the commandments of Islam.

Sign of the Prophet's (S.A.W.) Piety

Ordination of Five Daily Prayers

During his ascension to heaven, the Prophet (S.A.W.) was commanded by Allah to perform the five daily prayers. This was an expansion of the previous obligation of fifty daily prayers, and it is considered a great blessing for the Muslims.

Increased Moral Character

The event is believed to have had a profound effect on the Prophet's (S.A.W.) moral character, and it is said that he returned from his journey with an increased sense of responsibility and a greater commitment to spreading the message of Islam.
