(2478) (Is it permissible) to break the pots containing wine, or tear the leader containers holding wine? If one breaks an idol, a cross, or a drum (for amusement), or any other thing, the wood of which is useless (should one give a compensation)?
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: "دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَكَّةَ وَحَوْلَ الْكَعْبَةِ ثَلَاثُ مِائَةٍ وَسِتُّونَ نُصُبًا، فَجَعَلَ يَطْعُنُهَا بِعُودٍ فِي يَدِهِ، وَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ: جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ سورة الإسراء آية 81"الْآيَةَ.
SAHIH HADITH:
Narrated `Abdullah bin Mas`ud: The Prophet entered Mecca and (at that time) there were three hundred-and-sixty idols around the Ka`ba. He started stabbing the idols with a stick he had in his hand and reciting: Truth (Islam) has come and Falsehood (disbelief) has vanished.
