(4691) The Statement of Allah: “He said, 'Nay, but your ownselves have made up a tale. So (for me), patience is most fitting. And it is Allah (Alone) Whose help can be sought against that (lie) which you describe.' ” (V.12:18)
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مَسْرُوقُ بْنُ الْأَجْدَعِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ رُومَانَ وَهْيَ أُمُّ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: بَيْنَا أَنَا وَعَائِشَةُ أَخَذَتْهَا الْحُمَّى، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "لَعَلَّ فِي حَدِيثٍ تُحُدِّثَ"، قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ، وَقَعَدَتْ عَائِشَةُ، قَالَتْ: مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُكُمْ كَيَعْقُوبَ وَبَنِيهِ، بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنْفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ وَاللَّهُ الْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَى مَا تَصِفُونَ سورة يوسف آية 18.
SAHIH HADITH:
Narrated Um Ruman: Who was `Aisha's mother: While I was with `Aisha, `Aisha got fever, whereupon the Prophet said, Probably her fever is caused by the story related by the people (about her). I said, Yes. Then `Aisha sat up and said, My example and your example is similar to that of Jacob and his sons:--'Nay, but your minds have made up a tale. So (for me) patience is most fitting. It is Allah (alone) Whose help can be sought against that which you assert.' (12.18)
